The Garrett GTI 2500 is the top of the line GTI series detector from Garretts, with the GTI standing for Graphic Target Imaging. The manufacturer's site has a nice list of the GTI's features including the 9.5 Imaging search coil, patented graphic target imaging display, Treasure Talk that announces various settings, and says "Only Garret's GTI detectors offer true size and depth technology that adds additional target identification information to help determine a detected target's true identity".

Epinions has one review of the Garrett Gti 2500 giving the metal detector a rating of 5 out of 5 stars. They review many features of the gti 2500 and positively say "I had no idea this would be so much fun! And I truly believe the features and ease of use of the Garrett GTI 2500 has made learning this hobby a lot more fun. Give it a try! But be careful…. It is addicting!" They do list the major negatives being the price and difficulty learning the detector: "this is one of the most expensive detectors on the market" and "This detector takes a bit more studying to figure out due to the number of features, which could be frustrating for a beginner."

Here's an older review of the GTI 2500 from 1999 however it's from a great magazine (lost treasure) and not easy to locate via google, so checkout the review. This is a great review also if you want to see how the GTI 2500 has changed over the years as they even have a snapshot of the GTI 2500's lcd display from back then. They also take the GTI 2500 on a field test finding some great treasures and conclude with saying "The GTI 2500 is truly a professional-quality detector that offers above average performance while not requiring complicated adjustments that would scare off less-seasoned detectorists."

Amazon.com actually has a page on the Garrett GTI 2500 and as of this writing has it listed as 18% off the regular price. A snippet from the sales copy "The GTI 2500 metal detector is Garrett's top-of-the-line model, with all the bells and whistles, including a recorded voice that speaks to the user from the control unit." There is also one review of the GTI 2500 that says "This metal detector is the easiest to operate I've ever used."
