For starters the Garrett Website has a a page dedicated to the GTAx 550. They list the features as having a detachable hip mount battery pack, 7x10 inch elliptical search coil, LCD display that shows the detectors settings, and the patented Graphic Target Analyzer (get it, GTA!) for easy to read info on exactly what you will be digging. There are many other specs on the GTAx 550 at the Garrett site such as pinpointing and coin depth measurement so be sure to check it out.
Once again Lost Treasure Magazine has an excellent metal detector review in their archives, this time it's for the Garrett GTAx 550. The review and field test were done by Bill G. Revis who says he has 36 years of detecting experience and would use the GTAx 550 as his full time detector, very good regards for this detector. During the field test with the GTAx 550 they uncover more than a few dollars in change and a white gold ring calling the detector an excellent coin shooter and ring finder as well. In conclusion this review highly recommends the GTAx 550 and says "With its great depth, ease of operation, dead-on pinpointing, and accurate ID, this is a machine that would be hard to pass up."

Well there isn't much there, and they don't even sell the detector anymore, but Amazon.com does have one review of the Garrett GTAx 550 metal detector posted. (did I mention information on the GTAx 550 was scarce right now?) I did discover from the product description that the GTAx 550 comes with a "two-year manufacturer's warranty, as well as an instructional video, Garrett baseball cap, and treasure wipes", awesome. And the one review of the GTAx 550 says the the discrimination works well for avoiding digging the junk, and that the 550's pinpointing "works pretty well and is very important so you do not damage lawns."
Well Tom's Treasures doesn't make it real easy to find information on their site, but if you scroll down one third of the page you will see a genuine review of the Garrett GTAx 550. The reviewer speaks favorably of the GTAx 550 providing tips and experience with the target id (calling it very reliable) and the pinpointing feature being very accurate. In conclusion they say about the GTAx 550 "I can honestly say I have no complaints about this unit. It does everything I want it to, except dig the target and tell me exactly what it is before I dig it."
