The Fisher ID Edge comes in usually around $600 and comes equipped with notch and adjustable discrimination, automatic ground balance, 3 in 1 detector with modes for old coins, modern coins and gold jewlry, plus more. From the manufacturer's site: "Engineered to give you the EDGE in treasure hunting with deep detection and accurate target ID! The ID Edge is really 3 detectors in 1 with programming to find old coins and relics, modern coins, and jewelry. Featuring superior target separation, trash rejection and a fast automatic ground balance system, you'll find that value and performace come standard with the ID EDGE."
Lost Treasure Magazine recently reviewed and field tested the Fisher ID Edge. What did they think? Here's a snippet: "The new ID Edge offers surprising performance in a small package weighing in at 2 3/4 pounds" and the ID Edge can be "used right out of the box with no complicated programming or adjustments." They detail their field test including finds and also list some adjustments to make if you get "chatter" in mineralized grounds.
We're not sure why fisher keeps the majority of it's text locked up in PDF files (hello Fisher, not everybody can view these), but they do have some good info in them, most notably their field tests and user manuals. (Warning: PDF Link Ahead) Here's the Field test of the the Fisher ID Edge, which is an excellent review, and here's a small snippet in case you can't see the contents at the link to get the feel: "I already feel very comfortable with the ID Edge, and almost have just one worry. I worry that Fisher did
so well putting everything I need into the ID Edge that my other units could now see very little action."
Looking a bit more, Fisher actually has an easy to find product page on one of their metal detectors: ID Edge page. There you can find some great info on the ID Edge like the manual, field test, warranty info, spec sheet, and this cool control panel example page. They also have a photo of some great finds with made with the ID Edge and a general metal detecting faq there as well.
