Fisher 1225 X

Stepping up a notch from the Fisher 1212-X comes the Fisher 1225-X metal detector built with the "High Performance Turn on and Go" philosophy. The 1225-X comes equipped with features that detect deeply, ignore mineralized soils, offer full range discrimination, and also has a no motion pinpoint mode. Fisher says "If you're looking for affordable depth, discrimination and ease of operation, this is the detector to check out."

Lost Treasure magazine has a great long review and field test of the Fisher 1225-X metal detector (note: It's dated 1998). They like about the 1225-X assembly is very easy, and "Simplicity is the name of the game". They also offer some great tips if you already own this metal detector from pinpointing to de-tuning tips on the 1225-X. They conclude partially with "Its effective simplicity makes it ideal for the beginning detector user; once the novice has advanced to the point where a more elaborate instrument would be a real advantage, it would still be useful as a second detector."

Tom's Treasures has a review's page on various Fisher metal detectors, and one of them is a review of the Fisher 1225-X (scroll down about 1/3 page). The review isn't positive saying the metal detector is "very poorly made" and going on to describe how they believe the unit itself needs some work, the balance of the detector is bottom heavy, and the parts that make up the 1225-X are cheap as well.
