Lost Treasure magazine has a great long review and field test of the Fisher 1225-X metal detector (note: It's dated 1998). They like about the 1225-X assembly is very easy, and "Simplicity is the name of the game". They also offer some great tips if you already own this metal detector from pinpointing to de-tuning tips on the 1225-X. They conclude partially with "Its effective simplicity makes it ideal for the beginning detector user; once the novice has advanced to the point where a more elaborate instrument would be a real advantage, it would still be useful as a second detector."
